Lafayette Legion Post #300
The Lafayette American Legion Post #300 was established in late 1919. The Legion has an annual Memorial Day program and also a Turkey Bingo fundraiser on the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving. The Legion meets monthly on the third Tuesday each month, in the community center.
The Legion Post #300 Auxiliary was founded in January of 1922. The purpose of the auxiliary as stated in the Lafayette history book is "to foster a sense of patriotism in youth and society in general."
August 2023 - The Legion Post #300 has completed the first setting of purchased memorial pavers in the Lafayette Memorial Park on Main Avenue downtown. They will continue to take orders for memorial paver bricks for an annual setting in the memorial area around the flag pole for veterans and in the park for commuity members to remember loved ones, businesses current and historical, service groups and non-profit groups. See the order form below for details. Order forms are also available from any Legion or Auxiliary member, at Citizens Bank or the City office during office hours. Spring 2024 update: The second order of pavers is n the process and will be set when they arrive.
